USA beauty haul...part 1
Two weeks ago I returned from my long-anticipated USA trip. I went there to celebrate my 30th Birthday and really enjoyed my trip. It made me see certain things in different light and learn to appreciate what I already have. Deep and meaningful thoughts aside I managed to bring quite a collection of beauty products that were either unavailable in Australia or are way way cheaper in US which was frequently encountered.
After trying a small sample of Midnight Recovery from Kiehl's I was set on getting a full-size bottle. I managed to nab bigger 50 ml size plus got lots of generous samples as well.
Sephora was full of weird and wonderful beauty tools so I've picked up soft silicone cleansing pad and super soft facial brush. They both do an amazing job at giving my skin an extra cleanse which being very gentle.
Suncare range was equally as impressive, I even saw SPF 100 sunscreen. I am very picky with sunscreen and dislike the majority of sunscreens sold over here. I managed to find Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30 sunscreen that not only smells amazing (coconut and cocoa) but also feels like a regular light moisturiser. L'Occitane there has this SPF 15 body oil that felt really good on my skin and smelled amazing, so it came home with me too.
Haircare is often bulky and hard to transport so only got this Bumble and Bumble thickening hairspray and Aussie moisturising treatment. Aussie brand seems to be very popular over there and doesn't cost much, shame we don't have it here.
As a self-proclaimed perfume collector I was expecting to return with a suitcase full of fragrance...but instead only got two gift sets. I am actually quite pleased about it because I've spend under $50 on these two sets.
Kiehl's set has four 10 ml sprays in it, which are perfect for my handbag and travelling. I love that Kiehl's has the actual oils and extracts in their perfume range and they are well-blended and smell quite natural.
Orange Flower & Lychee pretty fruity floral scent with prominent lychee note and just enough sweetness.
Fig Leaf & Sage is a green aromatic unisex scent, it won't get many complements but I find it very calming...I imagine wearing it on lazy Sunday...
Vanilla & Cedarwood I love this one! It reminds me of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. The sweetness of vanilla is nicely balanced by woody notes making it very sophisticated. It has a very good lasting power too.
Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit is an uplifting and inoffensive scent, will be great for hot weather.
I also got this gorgeous L'Artisan set from Sephora for just $20. It has 10 2 ml samples of their most popular scents.
- Batucada
- Caligna
- Fou D'Absinthe
- La Chasse Aux Papillons
- L'eau D'Ambre Extreme
- Mure Et Musc Extreme
- Nuit De Tuberuse
- Premier Figuier
- Seville A L'Aube
- Timbuktu
I might do a detailed review in L'Artisans once i get to sample them properly.
...part 2 is coming soon :)
I love that Kiehl's set! Wish they had it here for $. Fig Leaf & Sage I really like though they stopped selling the 30ml which is the one I'm after.
ReplyDeleteKiehl's fragrances are very under-rated for the quality...DJ has 100 ml of Fig leaf & Sage for $77, I'll let you know if I see any 30 ml around...
