Vidal Sassoon Wave Magic and Saturday Night Nails

Image
Yay, it's Friday! Despite miserable weather I am still pretty excited about Saturday night. We got invited to a house-warming party. Tonight I've styled my hair using my  favorite hair curler - Vidal Sassoon Wave Magic. It is very easy to use, I get great results every time and it only takes me 15 minutes to do my hair. I start with dry hair (I use dry shampoo if I don't have time to wash my hair). Then I mist my hair with heat protectant. I section my hair and work my way from neck to top section. I curl away from my face and leave approx 5 cm from the roots when I do top sections. At the end I use hair spray to set it, let it cool (it also sets the curls), then shake my hair and separate it with fingers. Voilà! I had my hair done last week at Oscar Oscar City salon and I am extremely happy with their work. It was my first visit there and I will definitely come back. They listened to me, corrected my previous hair dresser work and finally gave me what I have been as

Garnier B.B Cream - Miracle Skin Perfector

Image
Couple of days ago I received Garnier B.B cream samples. I wanted to try B.B cream for quite sometime now since people are raving about it on forums. However I was worried that it might be too heavy for my combination skin. Garnier claims that this product has 5 instant benefits 1. HYDRATES for 24hrs Microencapsulation of Lipidure and Hyaluronic acid doubles the water held in the skin for long-lasting hydrating care. 2. EVENS tone Mineral Pigments melt instantly, evening out the complexion for flawless looking skin without the heaviness of foundation. 3. CORRECTS blemishes Instantly smoothes the skin’s micro-surface for a natural coverage. 4. BOOSTS healthy glow The antioxidant properties of Vitamin C boost the radiance and natural glow of the skin. 5. UV protection SPF 15 UV filters block out the sun’s damaging rays. The texture of this B.B was very similar to tinted moisturiser - very light and hydrating. I am not a big fan of tinted moisturisers because they

"Bellabox" February 2012 edition

Bellabox was the last Beauty Box I received this month. It was waiting for me this afternoon in my mail box. Like other two boxes it had Valentine's Day/Love theme. It had really nice scent and it was quite light compared to other boxes. I instantly liked what I saw when I opened it. Sasy n Savy hand creme 5 ml ($1.50) Very handy size to carry in a small hand bag. It has very generic yet pleasant scent. It absorbs straight away and makes my skin feel velvety...Big plus! Sanctrum Body Soothe body lotion 30 ml ($2.55) Beautifully scented organic body lotion. It has very light texture, just as I like it! I can actually see myself buying this product, it feels great, smells great and good for my skin. Emergin-C Vitamin C + retinol face mask ($4.50) I prefer face masks that come in individual or small doses as opposed to big tubes and tubs. Can't wait to try it, apparently it is going to give me a glowing complexion! Star & Rose confetti soap roses ($2.16) It is a dry

"ILoveThisBox" February 2012 edition

Happy Valentines Day! Today I've received "ILoveThisBox" in the mail. Just in time for V-Day :) I love how they co-ordinated colours in this box :) Also four out of five products are full-size! The Aromatherapy Co. Rose and Patchouli shower gel, 200 ml RRP $13.95 It has very pleasant sweet smell and contains essential oils of Rose, Patchouli and Ylang Ylang (I think I can smell the last one the most) plus extract of Manuka Honey. Keratinology by Sunsilk Overnight Treatment, 100 ml RRP $13.95 I don't normally use supermarket hair care product but this one is quite nice. It has pleasant yet subtle scent and feels quite light. I love the pump bottle too! Elizabeth Arden Red Door 10 ml EDT spray. RRP ~$15 I love Red Door's new bottle, I love how it is a purse spray, I love the fact that they have included a generous sample of EDT! One thing that I don't love is the actual scent of Red Door EDT. Was never a fan and I don't like when people around m

Movies and Dessert

I love cooking when I can find time for it. Passion fruits are in season and I had six of them sitting in my fruit basket (FMIL grows them in her garden). I mainly use passion fruits as a topping for Pavlova and similar desserts. This time I have decided to try something different and came across this video by Gordon Ramsay I think he is a great chef and explains everything well! It was the first time I've made soufflé and it turned out great! It didn't rise as much as his but I think it is due to the fact that I've used wider ramekins. I felt like having a quiet Saturday night at home so I finally watched Water for Elephants. I must say I really enjoyed this movie. Reese Witherspoon looked stunning! I think she is getting more and more attractive with age. Her portrayal of the character was excellent. Robert Pattinson's play was also captivating, I am glad he is trying different roles. To top everything Christoph Waltz was brilliant as a villain. After I fin

"Glossybox" February 2012 edition

This is my first out of three beauty boxes this month. The only "exiting" thing that suppose to happen in February is Valentines Day so I have a feeling that all of my Beauty Boxes will have a similar theme. This is my first Glossybox. Some people got very generous samples last month (like full size of Estee Lauder serum worth $170) so naturally I was very tempted to try this beauty subscription as well. Like my other boxes it came in very nice packaging ...and I couldn't wait to open it :) It had five beauty samples 1. Bobbi Brown Mascara 3 ml (~$24) Good size, big enough to try it properly. Should last me for few weeks or so. It has one of those new type plastic brushes with slightly curved ends that suppose to coat each individual lash. 2. Jane Iredale Tantasia face and body Self Tanner 5 ml (~$9) This golden self-tanner smells delicious, like cola mixed with tropical fruits. Possibly the best smelling fake tan I have ever come across. However I don'

Ode to Water

One of my New Years resolutions was drinking more water. Before I didn't drink enough. It is not that I didn't like water I just forgot to drink sufficient amount. Since I started drinking plenty if water I have noticed fair few positive effects from it - I don't get as many headaches - My mouth always feels fresh - My skin is more clear - My internal functions are much...better... - My stomach is flatter and I don't feel as bloated - I don't get hungry as much in between meals - It doesn't cost me anything My work can be extremely busy and sometimes I don't even get short breaks to have a glass of water. I figured out how to incorporate 6-8 glasses of water into my daily routine: - 1 glass when I wake up - 1 around morning tea - 2 around lunch time, 1 at the beginning, 1 with food or at the end - 1 at 3 pm - 1 when I finish work - 1 before dinner and 1 after or with dinner I also carry a stainless steel bottle in my gym bag and refill it
