My favourite Autumn/Winter scents

The weather here in Brisbane has officially changed couple of weeks ago. Bye bye shorts and floaty dresses, hello long sleeves and pants...my fragrance choices changes as well. I tend to wear heavier and warmer scents. So here are my favorites.

1. With Love...by Hilary Duff

I am not a fan of celebrity fragrances but I fell in love with this one when I received a sample. It only cost me $30 for a huge 100ml bottle but it doesn't smell cheap at all and has good lasting power. On me it smells like spiced vanilla pear! I often get asked which perfume I am wearing when I spray myself with "With Love". I tend to wear it a lot during the day.

2. Chantal Thomass for women

Once again I fell in love with this sexy scent after trying a sample. I would never pick the bottle up myself to test it because it is a bit tacky for my liking but it hides a gorgeous and sexy fruity-floral fragrance that my husband goes ga-ga for :) The composition is complicated but it somehow works. Perfect date fragrance.

3. Chanel No. 5 Hair Mist
Yes, it is a hair mist but I wear it as a perfume because it is much lighter and a bit more powdery then the original classic scent. Someone told me that it smells different on everyone. On me woody notes seem to dominate, I only get a hint of florals. It took me a while to appreciate Chanel No. 5 but I am glad I finally found a version that works well on me. To top it all off hair mist is much cheaper that EDT or EDP, I picked mine up from Strawberrynet for about $60 for 35ml.

4. Yves Saint Laurent Nu

It was released in 2001 and I remember getting a mini soap to sample this fragrance (got a voucher in a magazine, good old days when you could get  vouchers for good samples). I was only 16 but I fell in love with this spicy scent. I got a bottle on sale right before it got discontinued in 2004 (I think). I use it only occasionally and one spray is usually enough. The fragrance still hasn't changed and I love it just as much. It is definitely not your typical feminine scent, I think it is meant to be unisex. It has mainly spicy and woody notes but I love wearing it in winter sprayed on my warm clothes.

5. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Hair Mist

Another Hair Mist by Chanel that I adore. Just as the previous one it is a much ligher version of the fragrance, yet it lasts all day. I don't usually go for floral fragrances but citrus notes make it much more interesting and pleasant.

6. Christian Dior Miss Dior Cherie (original version)

I love the original Miss Dior Cherie! It is fun, fruity, sweet yet tasteful. I don't know why they had to change it, the new version is too watered down and floral. I once took it with me overseas and wore it when it was below 0 outside, it opened up beautifully. It always reminds me of "real" winter and warm clothes.

7. La Prairie Life Thread Platinum

When I sprayed it on my wrist I was very overwhelmed by strong and sharp floral/green scent so I left it at that. However after 5 minutes I couldn't stop smelling my wrist. It developed into a beautiful woody-green scent. I don't use it very often as it is quite strong but I feel extra special when I do. I wore this scent to my wedding :)

8. Comptoir sud Pacifique Amor de Cacao

I re-discovered this delicious true chocolate scent couple of months ago. I got it on some crazy sale few years ago but never gave it a chance. I sprayed it on myself at the end of the day when all my other fragrances wore off and OMG, it smelled gorgeous. It is very hard to find a true chocolate scents, a lot of them are either too sweet or too sharp. This one is a stand out! I love the stainless steel bottle, so easy to carry it in my handbag.
