SOTD Bvlgari Omnia

Image
The original Bvlgari Omnia was introduced to the market in 2003. They had gorgeous magazine advertisement featuring Alyssa Sutherland.   They have perfectly captured the essence of the scent - unconventional, seductive and warm (just like Alyssa). The bottle was very unusual compared to what was offered at the time. It smells like Masala Chai (chai tea) served with white chocolate and a bit of sandalwood Spice in fragrances can be overwhelming for some people but Omnia is sheer and inviting. It stays close to your skin so don't be afraid to wear it. Unfortunately it has been discontinued and can be hard to find. It took me weeks to obtain one. I was beyond excited find one at Priceline heavily discounted to $39. It is definitely one-of-a-kind scent, so try it if you haven't already. According to Fragrantica Top notes are ginger, mandarin orange, saffron, pepper and cardamom; Middle notes are nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, almond, masala chai and lotus; Bas

SOTD Yves Saint Laurent ELLE Eau de Toilette

Image
Elle EDT (formerly known as Elle Shocking) was gifted to me by my mum as a Christmas Present. I am not a huge fan of "shocking" part because this perfume is very very nice so I was happy to find out recently that it has been renamed but not reformulated (which happens far too often these days). It is a fresh spicy-woody scent with a bit of floral added to it to make it more feminine. I get lots of ginger, cedar and patchouli in this scent with a touch of fruity-floral notes. The bottle is gorgeous with golden detailing and cap! I think the add campaign perfectly suits this scent - it is edgy, modern and sexy. It is more subtle and less floral compared to the original and tends to stay close to skin after the initial burst of fragrance. According to Fragrantica this scent is composed of aromas of mandarin, ginger and peony. I know that woody note is not listed but I definitely get cedar. Smells like: ginger, cedar and fruity florals Lasts for: 3-4 hours Sill

SOTD Moschino Funny!

Image
Today is hot, hot hot in Brisbane (top of +41 C) so I had to wear an appropriate fragrance that wouldn't suffocate me but would last at least couple of hours. I reached for Moschino Funny that was purchased from a small local pharmacy heavily reduced to $19.95. The advertisement doesn't capture a lot of attention and the bottle is quite cute but not outstanding...but the scent itself is gorgeous. Smells like: sweetened orange tea Lasts for: 4-6 hours Silliage: soft to moderate Best for: daytime wear, the office, warmer months At first I get lots of soapy orange, but after couple of minutes sweetened tea note starts to come through along with a touch of pink pepper. I love pink pepper in perfumes as it adds extra character and dimension. Overall it is a very pleasant summer scents that is slightly sweet but still very fresh, citrus-y and green.

Best products of 2013...Fragrances

Image
In 2013 my fragrance collection has probably doubled.  I figured out that collecting fragrances is way better than collecting make-up products because you can sell them easily if they don't work for you. It was hard to pick winners but here is my top picks (sadly couple of then have been discontinued and are very hard to find)   Best Rose scent - Clarins Par Amour Tojours The rose in this perfume is fresh and sweet and is more like rosewater rather than heavy perfume oil. Added grapefruit makes this scent very delicious and pink pepper adds a dimension. Best Floral scent - Marc Jacobs Essence The most gorgeous white floral scent. It smells like a garden filled with jasmine, camellias and freesias. Best Popular scent - Miss Dior Cherie (old version)   Gourmand sweet and fruity mix that is irresistible. I am still puzzled why they had to change this scent to a generic mix of patchouli, jasmine and citrus. Best Special Occasions scent - Coco Chanel Perfum

Happy 2014...year recap and resolutions :)

2013 was full of ups and downs but overall it has been a good year for me. It was definitely a memorable one :) I achieved most of my resolutions from 2013 - survived wedding - did one free online post-grad course (still haven't decided what I want to study) - stuck with my eating and exercise routine (it had to be revived few time though) - travelled overseas and locally - purged my wardrobe but got some new things as well - paid off 2 out of 3 credit cards Couple of extra thing I achieved this year - I can run now and actually enjoy it (for the first time on my entire life) - I've been drinking less alcohol - Been keeping my place cleaner and tidier ...in 2014 I am hoping to - travel more locally and overseas (I am hoping to do Japan for my 30th in November) - read more books - spend more time with friends and re-connect with old friends - purge my wardrobe every season - spend less on make-up and skincare and use things I already have - pay off last c
