French Film Festival 2012, Cadbury and Weekend

Image
The French Film Festival arrived to Brisbane so me and my girlfriends decided to watch a movie. We saw Goodbye First Love ( UN AMOUR DE JEUNESSE) and thoroughly enjoyed it.  The gorgeous new romantic drama from rising talent Mia Hansen-Løve is an unashamedly personal story of love, loss and the tender memories from youth that can never truly be erased. This film was easy to watch and relate to. However it wasn't predictable. Loved it! I wore Chanel make up (two eye shadows from Frisson quad and Pro Lumiere foundation), my fragrance of choice was Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. One of my new years resolutions was to be more active. So I decided to add hiking to my routine. I find walking in natural environment very enjoyable and interesting. Plus I can exercise for much longer than I normally would.  This beautiful reserve is located just 5 min away from my place and I live within 5 km of Brisbane CBD. Yesterday I had my first Easter Egg, it was new Cadbury Egg 'n' Sp

Essie Spring and Fall Minis

Image
Few weeks ago OzSale had Essie nail polishes on sale with free delivery. Naturally I couldn't resist and purchased two mini collections - Spring  and Fall 2011 I paid $20 for eight 5 ml nail polishes! Very happy with that! Essie nail polishes are gorgeous but they retail for $17-19! They are free of DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde, always have perfect formula and coverage, dry in no time and have beautiful shine. I am yet to try an Essie nail polish that I dislike. Fall mini collection has: - Very Structured , described as classic burnt sienna. It looks like rusty brown in a bottle but on my nails it dried darker. Looks more like milk chocolate to me :) - Lady Like , an elegant soft mauve. I love muted pinks, they IMO the most versatile shade of pink. - Carry on , deep romantic burgundy. Delicious shade of deep berry. - Power Clutch , a striking deep grey-green. Reminds me of Sew Psyched, it looks scary in a bottle but amazing on nails. I am wearing Very Structured on my na

"Glossybox" March 2012

Image
My Glossybox arrived this morning! This box is all about maintaining fresh and vibrant look with an active lifestyle! Sounds good to me as I have been more active than usual recently. So what's in the box.... 1. The Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter 8 ml I like TBS body butters however they are too rich for me to be used all over. I am quite keen to try this one on my legs, hands and feet. I tested it in store and it was very yum! 2 + 3. Avene Gentle Milk Cleanser and Gentle Toner 50 ml each. I always wanted to try Avene so now is a great opportunity. I do get irritations and breakouts from certain products so hopefully this range will be a winner for me. It smells beautiful too, very subtle yet pleasant. 4. Klorane Dry Shampoo 50 ml I've been using this product for years. It is perfect if you don't have time to wash your hair but want it to look good. I also use it as a volumising product, I just spray it and don't brush it out for some extra body. I already ha

Essence Cosmetics

Image
Few months ago I've noticed a new stand at my local Target store. It was Essence Cosmetics. They had a great range of nail polishes so I got couple to try. They retail between $2.50 and $3.95 so there is no surprise the stand gets raided on a regular basis. I was very lucky to capture this photos today, it was probably just restocked. ...and close-ups of different polishes In addition to their impressive nail polish range they have various useful tools such as nail polish remover pen, french manicure strips and top/base/quick dry coats. All very reasonably priced. They often have limited edition collections too. So I got thee limited edition nail polishes today. One from Ballerina Backstage collection in 01 Dance the Swan Lake (sheer white with pink flash, not terribly unique but I didn't have that colour yet) and two from Vampire's Love (hahaha) collection in 02 Into the Dark (deep greyish blue with fine silver glitter) and 04 The Dawn is Broken (Grey with fine s

"Bellabox" March 2012 edition

Image
After picking up ILoveThisBox from my post office I found Bellabox sitting in my letterbox. They have changed the packaging and now it comes in a pouch. Bellabox had five samples (plus a treat), two of them were full size. It also had Autumn theme. Yes to Carrots Lip tint, 2.6g RRP$9.95 Mine is very nice warm nude shade. It has minty scent and supposed to be made from all natural ingredients.  U Little Beauty Natural Repair Hair Masque 100ml, RRP$19.95 I was supposed to get shine serum but got mask instead which I actually prefer. It has very beautiful rose scent and to me it is a star product of this box. It is a protein treatment and I actually need one. Pure Fiji Coconut Hydrating Body Lotion, ?15ml ~value$1.30 I've heard a lot of good things about their products but never tested them. This body lotion has very summery coconut scent (IMO it would suit summer pack better). It felt nice on my skin but not extraordinary. The scent is quite strong but it settles down after

"ILoveThisBox" March 2012 edition

ILoveThisBox was the first beauty box I received this month. It felt like it has been a while since I've received one. This box is all about Autumn I love Autumn and I wish it was as beautiful in Brisbane as it is in south states. Nevertheless I enjoy cooler change :) This box has very nice selection of products, three out of five are full size Maybelline XXL Pro Mascara, 2 x 5.2 ml RRP$19.95 I am excited to try this mascara as I generally like Maybelline mascaras. It is one of those two-step mascaras where you apply base coat to thicken them, then second one to colour and extend them. This one is also supposed to curl your lashes. Sunsilk Co-Creations Detangling Mist, 120 ml RRP$6.49 It is supposed to lock-in straight shape and detangle hair and it can be used any time. It is not suitable for straightening curly or wavy hair which doesn't bother me since my hair is naturally straight. I will definitely get some use out of this one since it is very easy to use. Th

My new acquisitions

My Frugal February was a success! I was trying very hard to resist new purchases during February and I went relatively well. Being super busy at work helped a lot. I went shopping this weekend. Couple of my friends are having Birthdays this week so it was a great excuse to do some serious shopping (mostly for them, some for me) So for myself I got "Audrey" necklace from Oroton I wanted long pearl necklace for a while but couldn't find the design I liked. This one is perfect, can't wait to wear it with simple black, navy or grey top/dress! And I got this vest from Metallicus that goes well with a lot of my other clothes I got Lash Accelerator mascara from Rimmel to replace my old one. It doesn't give me WOW results but it is great for every day and it supposed to make you lashes grow. I noticed that Rimmel had very good GWP at David Jones. When you spend $20 or more you get 5 nail polishes. So I also picked up Green with Envy nail polish to get the gi

Happy Birthday Barbie!

Image
Barbie turned 53 today! She changed a lot in 53 years and I must say she got better with age In 1959 she looked like this: Beautiful, pale and stylish In 1960's Barbie was quite conservative and traditional as a Nurse and French Fashionista In 1970's iconic Malibu Barbie emerged. In my opinion she started the whole "Barbie" trend - tanned skin, blonde hair and long legs. She also came with a BF Ken and camper van Barbie industry was going strong in 80's. She appeared in vast range of outfist and collections From sweet Peaches n Cream To Over-The-Top Rocker Barbie and Holiday Barbies I grew up in 90's. I remember my best friend's sister brought this one home from Italy in 1991 It was in the former Soviet State and Barbies were very rare and highly prized so to me it was the most beautiful thing ever. Totally Hair Barbie and Teresa were very popular This add used to mesmerise me, it was played during Disney series as well as Hollyw
